Prof. Dr. Thorsten Grohsjean
Thorsten Grohsjean is an assistant professor in the department of management and technology of Bocconi University since September 2016. Before joining Bocconi University, he worked from 2012 to 2016 as an assistant professor for strategy and organization in technology-intensive industries at LMU Munich and from 2011 to 2012 as a research associate in the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Group at Imperial College London. He holds a Ph.D. in Management and a Master of Business Research from LMU Munich and a Diploma in Management from the University of Mannheim.
Thorsten Grohsjean’s research focusses on the question how individuals and firms cope with the challenges associated with the acquisition and development of new knowledge and skills. He thereby focuses on employee mobility, problem solving and innovation as the main modes of acquiring and developing new knowledge and skills. The challenges, he is interested in, include threats to identity, coordination, and cognitive biases. His research is published in the Academy of Management Journal (2x), Organization Science, the Journal of World Business, and the International Journal of Industrial Organization. Since 2020 he serves on the editorial review board of Strategic Management Journal.
